Job Title: Employment Counsellor/Facilitator, RTE (Arabic)
Status: Full time (35 hours/week) Contract to March 31, 2018 with possibility of extension

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: As part of World Skills Employment Centre, a not-for-profit employment service for newcomers to Canada, the Employment Counsellor/Facilitator provides pre-employment information, guidance and support to new Canadians in English and/or Arabic. Services will be delivered both on a one-on-one basis and through group facilitation.
  • Conduct one on one intake, assessment and referral appointments
  • Organize and facilitate group sessions using adult learning principles
  • Provide employment counselling and follow through as needed
  • Follow-up on client progress through consistent and regular communication
  • Participate in outreach activities when required
  • Enter information into centralized profile tracking system and database. Maintain and keep both electronic and hard copy files up to date
  • Contribute to reports and other publications requiring data and testimonials
  • Work closely with partner agencies to ensure service excellence and appropriate referrals
  • Actively contribute to the efficient functioning of the team and organization

QUALIFICATIONS and COMPETENCIES:
  • Post-secondary education and experience in a related field
  • English and Arabic essential
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to adapt to a variety of client needs with diplomacy and tact
  • Cross-cultural competency and strong communication skills
  • Knowledge of the personal and systematic barriers to employment for new Canadians
  • Understanding of adult learning principles
  • Experience facilitating group sessions and providing individual counselling/support
  • Knowledge of immigration and labour market trends
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member
  • Effective time management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
