Position Title: Finance Analyst
Reports to: Director of Finance
Reporting to the Director, Finance, the Financial Analyst will be responsible for the preparation, analysis and review of financial data to be used in reports for senior management. As well, the Financial Analyst will assist extensively with ad-hoc financial and operational analysis, which will require significant interaction with individuals across all areas of the organization.
  • Review, prepare and monitor contracts for independent contractors
  • Responsible for managing the month end process
  • Responsible for accruals and deferrals
  • Identify and contribute to or lead financial process improvements
  • Prepare month-end reports for project leads and directors
  • Prepare financial activities and variance reports, meet with directors and make recommendations, as required
  • Prepare reports for all externally funded projects
  • Maintain day-to-day cash management of CCSA by transferring funds to maximize rates of return
  • Responsible for compilation of audit working file and main on-site contact for auditors
  • Maintain the filing system of accounting records
  • Maintain office equipment and services, meet with sales representatives, obtain quotes, negotiate and survey preferred rates with suppliers
  • Ensure the smooth operation of the Finance division during prolonged absences of the director
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience
  • Three-year community college graduate in finance or business administration
  • Currently enrolled in a chartered professional accountant program at the advanced level or higher
  • Minimum eight years of experience in an accounting environment with multiple revenue sources with a focus on budget management and variance analysis for project-based financial reporting
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills in English
  • Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with staff, directors and the public
  • Well-developed analytical and reasoning skills
  • In-depth knowledge of financial and business systems
  • Ability to understand, express and apply complex financial and management concepts

  • Advanced skills in Sage 300
  • Advanced skills in Excel
  • Bilingual English and French
  • Good knowledge and understanding of contracts and standard clauses
  • Experience working in a non-profit environment
