Trade Facilitation Office (TFO) Canada is a non-profit organisation that confronts the challenge of global poverty by promoting sustainable economic development through export information, advice and contact. We improve lives through facilitating sustainable international trade opportunities for small and medium enterprises in developing countries.
Currently Trade Facilitation Office Canada (TFO Canada) has a number of projects and funding relationships geared towards trade support and capacity building in Southeast Asia, Europe and Africa. With our experience and history in supporting developing countries across the globe, opportunities exist to work on other meaningful projects that are aligned to our organization’s mission.
TFO Canada is currently recruiting for a new full-time Project Manager position located in Ottawa. Reporting to and working closely with the Director, Program Development and Partnerships, the Project Manager will:
Perform program planning and implementation through ongoing communications with donors and implementing partners/consultants of TFO Canada’s trade development projects/programs.
Manage strategic partnerships and business development activities, which includes the preparation of new project/program proposals to potential donors.
Develop project budgets and monitor these budgets during program implementation.
Prepare periodic project or program results-based reports for donor(s)
Ensure that appropriate project records are maintained to provide a sound basis for project tracking, reporting and follow up, or review of program activities and results, including external program audits.
Support the Director, Program Development and Partnerships in:
Maintaining relationships with implementing partners/donors and trade support institutions (business/exporters associations, chambers of commerce, bi-lateral chambers, Canada-based trade representatives of developing countries etc.). · Conducting program planning and needs assessment missions in selected partner countries. · Developing performance measurement frameworks to support project implementation.
5 years of experience in project management/implementation, including planning, budgeting, procurement and contracting of external service providers, monitoring, results based reporting and impact measurement.
At least 3 years of combined experience in international development and/or international trade (trade development or promotion, export marketing, importing/sourcing and/or providing trade development services for exporters etc.) that include: · Successful track record in preparation of project or program proposals for potential donors. · Strong ability to manage stakeholder (donors, partners) relations (including donor reporting). · Relevant work experience in developing countries.
Relevant university degree, preferably at the Master’s level.
Fluency (oral and written) in English.
Excellent oral, presentation and written communication skills, including report-writing.
Excellent computer application skills, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint as well as some experience working with database applications.
Ability to travel internationally (up to 4-8 weeks per year).
Working knowledge of Spanish and French
CAPM/PMP or CITP designation.
