Position(s): One (1) Full Time Financial Analyst
Start Date: ASAP
 Job Summary: The Financial Analyst, reporting to the Controller, is directly involved in the preparation of financial statements, operating reports, and budgets for the company’s internal and external stakeholders, and process improvement projects. An attention to detail, ability to analyze and think critically and the desire to improve process and procedures will benefit the team. The Financial Analyst provides analysis, leadership and project management for a range of improvement initiatives supporting operations and finance.

Primary Responsibilities include:
  •  Participates in budget process, defining assumptions and modelling scenarios, working closely with department and program managers to prepare budgets and forecasts
  • Ensure that the monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements are prepared in accordance with GAAP, OHRS, and Carefor’s policies and procedures
  • Supports the Controller in preparation of the monthly financial reports to the Finance, HR, and Risk Management Committee and the Ottawa Program Board in a timely manner
  • Monitor and analyze monthly variances to budget and trend analyses, work with program managers to understand program financial results and cost drivers on an ongoing basis
  • Support LHIN and other government reporting requirements including the Charity Return
  • Oversee and reconcile balance sheet and operating accounts
  • Actively lead and participate in process and system improvement projects to ensure best practices are being delivered to high standard of data accuracy and efficiency
  • Proactively identifies areas for improvement  recommending changes to improve control and accuracy
  • Update and develop Finance policies and procedures
  • Assist with the preparation of year-end audit working papers and interface with external auditors
  • Contributes positively to the culture of our workplace by staying positive, engaged and energized by the difference you’re making.
  • Other accounting and administrative duties as assigned to support the Finance team

Qualifications include:
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CGA, CMA)
  • Successful completion of post-secondary education in Accounting/Business/Finance and/or equivalent program
  • 3-5 years of relevant Finance/Accounting experience ideally in a similar-sized organization.
  • Strong accounting and payroll system knowledge, solid analytical ability, and comfortable dealing with high volumes of data
  • Knowledge of finance/accounting policies, procedures and internal control requirements
  • Experience with finance system implementations is an asset
  • Industry knowledge and experience in health care would be an asset
  • Highly organized, boundlessly energetic, detail-oriented, and analytically curious
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, data manipulation, analysis, and data modelling.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working in a professional business environment and effectively developing and implementing new processes to achieve desired results
