You hold a Secondary School Diploma and are an Electrical Utility Trades Journeyperson or have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a related field such as cable locating, underground cable work, underground civil construction, or pole line construction, including Telecom Installations. You have knowledge of the Electrical Utility Safety Rules, Utility Work Protection Code, Hydro Ottawa Standard Work Methods and approved Construction Standards as well as your certification in First Aid/CPR, WHMIS and Confined Space Entry. You have Basic computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel, and are comfortable learning new technology.
Your ability to work both independently and in a team environment, with minimal direct supervision, allows you to efficiently solve problems involving several variables. Your previous experience combined with your strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize will make you a valuable contributor to this team. People describe you as a skilled trades person with knowledge of overhead/underground plant installations, mapping as well as civil engineering.

What would I be responsible for?
Reporting to the Supervisor Distribution Operations, you would be responsible to inspect, verify and confirm the construction and maintenance of both overhead and underground Hydro Ottawa plant, as well as the installation of third party plant in or on Hydro Ottawa infrastructure, conforms to Hydro Ottawa standards.
This temporary opportunity will begin as soon as possible for 18 months.
The salary range for this position is $50,648.00 to $77,792.00, and will be commensurate with experience. This position has been evaluated as a Grade 4 position and the terms and conditions of employment are governed by the collective agreement between Hydro Ottawa Limited and IBEW Local 636.
