Position Status: Full-time Contract (June 2018- May 2019)

 Position Summary:

Accounts Receivable Officer is responsible for the accounting, recording, collections and management of $30+M in revenue for the organization, including campaign revenue, sponsorships, event revenue, recoveries and other campaign and trade receivables.

Has day-to-day responsibility for accounts receivable functions and management of the Accounts Receivable Clerk’s work.  Key accounts receivable activities include bank deposits, invoicing, collections and recording payments against pledged donations in the donation management system and ensuring that these transactions are properly recorded in the financial accounting system.

Must work closely with campaign managers to follow up on overdue pledges receivable related to the Community Campaign, identify pledge loss and produce accurate client statements.  This role is the key liaison to each payroll and finance contact in the client organizations, to ensure timely payment of pledged donations and other receivables.

This role is also responsible for ensuring the accurate recording of revenues in the financial system, reconciling balances to the donation management system and ensuring all forms of revenue are recorded properly.

  Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in business, accounting or finance
  • 3-5 year experience in an accounts receivable position
  • Experience providing direction to other employees
  • Experience with accounting systems and other financial analysis/processing tools
  • Not-for-profit experience would be an asset
  • Very good understanding of accounting principles for revenue recognition
  • Good knowledge of accounting processes and systems, particularly in relation to accounts receivable
  • Knowledge and understanding of accounting and fundraising software applications for non-profit organizations an asset
  • Computer proficiency and technological skills, especially with accounting systems, spreadsheets, and word processing software and reporting tools
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to resolve client issues/concerns and work/liaise with various client organizations in the public and private sector
  • Ability to prioritize conflicting demands and work within tight deadlines
  • Ability to provide clear direction and oversight of activities in a high volume and complex operating environment and maintain confidentiality of information
  • Strong team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills Bilingualism an asset
