Job Advertisement – Grounds Supervisor

Full-time, indefinite term

Established in 1891, Ashbury College is a leading independent school for boys and girls, Grades 4 to 12. Ashbury College is located on a 13-acre campus in the heart of Rockliffe Park in central Ottawa. Our outside facilities include two sports fields, tennis courts, driveways and parking lots, pathways, and grounds including mature trees and shrubs.

The College is seeking a Grounds Supervisor on a full-time basis, to join our Maintenance and Operations team. Your responsibilities would include:

  • Daily supervision of a small team of Grounds keepers.
  • Grounds work including slip seeding, core aeration, fertilization and turf management, walk behind gas mowers, trimmers, edgers and leaf blowers
  • Operating of Kubota machinery
  • Tree pruning and planting of perennials and annuals
  • Exterior masonry and fence work
  • Winter snow removal, and spring and fall clean-up
  • Special Events set-up
  • Assisting other maintenance staff in day to day activities

As the ideal candidate, you will be:

  • Comfortable working outdoors in all seasonal weather conditions;
  • Effective at supporting and supervising co-workers
  • Able to lift and carry materials weighing up to 25 kg;
  • Physically active;
  • Committed to workplace safety;
  • Willing to early morning shifts and occasional irregular hour;
  • Committed to workplace safety.

The wage for this position is $18.00 per hour based on a regular 35-hour workweek. Group Health and Dental, and pension plan benefits are provided, as are breakfast and lunch for most of the year.
