World Skills Employment Centre, a not-for-profit employment service for new Canadians, is seeking to fill the position of Program Manager for the Entrepreneurial Newcomers, Refugees and Immigrant Collaboration Hub (ENRICH). The main role of this position is to supervise and coordinate all activities that support the social and economic integration of aspiring newcomer entrepreneurs. The manager will perform the following duties:
Develop a project plan and ensure the implementation of project activities through the monthly goals, resource and strategies to meet the funding deliverables
Oversee the development and delivery of workshops and trainings to support the needs of the facilitators and clients
Recruit new training facilitators on an as-needed basis and develop a training schedule for all cohorts each year
Develop and implement an outreach strategy including a communications plan and marketing material to promote the services at the hub
Be a focal point in building corporate partnerships and relationships with successful entrepreneurs and mentors
Work collaboratively with community partners and sector experts to develop tools and resources for aspiring newcomer entrepreneurs to understand demographics, sector dynamics, regulations, consumer preferences etc.
Oversee the management of the Mentorship and Alumni Programs
Oversee the sourcing of work shadowing opportunities for aspiring newcomer entrepreneurs through labour market research, attending networking events, job fairs and other opportunities to connect with employers
Oversee the creation of a database containing sector related information; key players, value chain analysis, procurement and sales mechanisms, etc. Manage annual program budget to ensure resource allocation is aligned with funding deliverables (when necessary) and implement cost effective measures to avoid slippages and overruns
Assist in fund raising and development to expand or add value to the range of services offered by the hub
Provide weekly/monthly/quarterly reports as required
Attend staff meetings, team meetings and other external meetings as required
Perform other duties from time to time, as required by the organization
University Degree in related field (business, economics, finance etc.) and 2-5 years of experience in new venture development or innovative start-up experience in a business or academic environment
Must have strong program development and project management abilities
Must have strong financial, budgetary, interpersonal, and supervisory skills
Experience in working with employers and various stakeholders and partners
Understanding of industry and labour market trends
Experience in communication material development and effective ways to create visibility for the program
Be able to work under pressure, establish priorities and deal with tight timelines
Communicate effectively (verbal and written) and have excellent interpersonal and intercultural skills
Be able to recognize the need for change and to develop plans for change where necessary
Experience in working with newcomers and immigrants
Advanced skills in communication, writing, MS Office, and in leveraging social media
Fluency in English (oral and written) is essential
French is a strong asset
