May 14 @ 2:00 pm 4:00 pm

Excel in the Canadian Public Service: Master Key Competencies

Are you interested in building a career in the Canadian public service? This session is designed to help you understand the key competencies needed to enter and succeed in federal government roles.

Join us to explore what hiring managers look for during Government of Canada (GoC) interviews, and how you can effectively demonstrate your qualifications through your experience and professional behaviour.

In this session, you will:

  • Learn about the core competencies required in the public service (e.g., communication, teamwork, analytical thinking, client service, integrity)
  • Understand how these competencies are assessed during the hiring process
  • Discover practical strategies to prepare for competency-based interviews
  • Learn how to use your own work and life experiences to craft strong, relevant examples
  • Gain insights into structuring your responses using the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result)

This session is ideal for internationally trained professionals and anyone considering a career with the federal government. The content was developed by an expert consultant and tailored specifically for World Skills clients.

Note: This event is exclusive to World Skills clients. If you are not a client, please register on our website or send us an email at ws@ottawa-worldskills.org.
