Launch of the RBC Newcomer Mentorship Program
Firstly, we are thrilled to announce the launch of the Newcomer Mentorship for Future Leaders in Banking & Finance, a new addition to the corporate mentorship programs in banking and finance at World Skills. This exciting initiative made possible through a strong partnership between World Skills and RBC (Royal Bank of Canada), marked another step in supporting the economic integration of newcomers in Ottawa. Since 2010, the Corporate Mentorship Program at World Skills has empowered over 1,500 newcomers with coaching and mentoring opportunities, helping them secure meaningful employment and thrive in their communities.
The launch of the Newcomer Mentorship Program for Future Leaders builds upon this foundation of success designed to connect skilled newcomers with mentors from the banking industry, enhance career development, build professional networks, and create pathways to sustainable success. This program is not just about career advancement for future leaders; it is about fostering confidence, nurturing potential, and helping newcomers find their place in a new community.
Furthermore, we sincerely thank the gift of $40,000 from the RBC Foundation and RBC leaders Louise Summers, Derek Farrow and Heidi Hamdan for their incredible support, as well as World Skills’ Mengistab Tsegaye, Gemma Follini and Chris Song for their dedicated leadership and hard work in making this mentorship initiative a reality.
With mentorship at its core, this program fosters meaningful connections, enabling newcomers to gain insights, build networks, and grow their careers as future leaders. Stay tuned as we share more success stories from this transformative program!
