Scotiabank Fills Its Ottawa Talent Pool
On November 25, 2022, Scotiabank held a highly innovative and productive recruitment campaign for World Skills clients to expand its talent pool for Financial Advisor and Customer Experience Associate candidates for all its Ottawa-area branches.
These roles exist in every Scotiabank branch. These are great jobs with a choice of permanent full-time and part-time options. They are an ideal way to start a career in banking and financial services.
Led by Yogita Ramdhooneea, the talent acquisition consultant for Eastern Ontario in the bank’s Montreal offices, the two-part campaign involved creating a Web site just for World Skills clients to apply, and holding a virtual information session to promote the campaign several days before the closing date for applications.
As a huge bonus, Yogita invited Piero Ramos to be a guest speaker. Not only is Piero the manager of the Ottawa Centre and Gatineau District branches, he was a World Skills client!! His career story from entry level to branch manager was as inspiring as it was educational.
Yogita was as happy with the information event as our clients. “We had a great experience with the event and it was a pleasure to answers the questions of the participants. They were all great questions. Thank you for having us,” she wrote in a feedback e-mail after the event.
More than 55 clients attended the information session on November 25, and 37 clients applied by December 2nd. Yogita and her colleague, Victoria Koseyan, contacted them all quickly. By year-end, seven had been referred to branch managers, and 10 more retained in the talent pool for future vacancies.
This two-part campaign was a great model that other talent-hungry employers will consider replicating with World Skills.
