Hire A Newcomer Woman!
We are super excited to see that 90% of our ENW program participants from Cohort 1 and 2 are HIRED right here in Ottawa. In less than 4 months, with the intense support from our staff, employers and champions, we are helping our newcomer women integrate into our workplaces. Some have even gotten promotions! As we observe International Women’s Day this month, we want to challenge and encourage employers to step up on the agenda of increasing equality and opportunities for newcomer visible minority women.
Our initiative, Empowering Visible Minority Newcomer Women to Succeed in the Labour Market’, is the perfect place to source talent and meet exceptional women who are ready for work! Let us know about your job opportunities! If you are an employer or recruitment firm, come and meet our talented participants on March 10th! Here are some of the profiles of the women. We can do this Ottawa – Let’s make International Women’s Day count for our newcomer women!
“I find it very rewarding to meet with candidates who are exceptionally driven and who can add to our organization. It’s a great opportunity to meet with qualified candidates face to face.“
– A. Ali, Children’s Aid Society of Ottawa
“A lot of uncovered talent that just needs a chance to get their foot in the door.” – Rega, LRO Staffing
What is a Targeted Recruitment Event?
It is an event which brings our program participants face to face with potential employers and recruiters. This is a critical intervention for newcomers for several reasons: newcomers get to meet employers who can assess their fit against actual and projected hiring needs. We save employers time and money by taking care of all of the logistics! We save them from endless hours of going through resumes! The optimal case scenario is when employers come with real opportunities which they want to fill.
There is talent right here in Ottawa. Newcomers, including newcomer women are a hidden talent pool. It is to your advantage to tap into this talent pool! Our next targeted recruitment event is March 10, 2020 for NEWCOMER WOMEN only.
