A newcomers’s experience looking for a job…
Rula Alkhzouz is a Jordanian-born immigrant to Ottawa. She is university educated, has many years of work experience, but was having difficulties adjusting to the Canadian labour market.
She started volunteering at World Skills Employment Centre and after a few months a position became available, she was interviewed for it and she was offered a full-time contract!
After her first few weeks at World Skills this is what she has to say:
“Dearest World Skills Team,
After submitting my first reports for November 2015, I wanted to take one moment to thank each one of you for the amazing assistance and outstanding support you’ve shown me throughout this month, leading me by “Sample and Example”.
You truly raised the bar for the definition of TEAMWORK, COMMITMENT and INSPIRATION. What you do is really motivating and keeps me uplifted every morning.
I am extremely proud to be a part of this team. Thank you once again for showing me how one can be an exemplary employee and an excellent colleague!!!”
Congratulations Rula!
