Giving Back to Your Community with Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services

On May 4th, Joanne Jarocki, HR Officer at CFMWS, met with the Empowering Visible Minority Newcomer Women Program for an information session about the organization, current opportunities, interview tips, and Security Clearance procedures.

The Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services offer programs and services specifically for the unique realities of military life here in Canada. A large organization with different bases across North America, Europe, and Western Asia. Joanne spoke on their integrity-based work culture, various opportunities for professional growth, and the diversity that ensures the inclusion of individuals from all backgrounds.

Joanne took the time to break down the different entities and divisions that work together to support the members of CFMWS. This gave ENW participants an idea of current job openings in Marketing, Investments Advisory, Swim instructors, and a list of various other opportunities. The information session also highlighted vital tips for a successful interview. Joanne encouraged candidates to focus on the behaviour-based questions, and she expressed the importance of providing good scenario examples and how you have learned from them. Impress your employer by studying the core values of the organization and their competencies. Joanne mentions that using these values in your language as you speak helps you establish a connection and demonstrates that you understand what they seek in a candidate.

The ladies introduced their professional backgrounds and had great questions about the organizations hiring routine. To wrap up the session, Joanne went over how to obtain your Security Clearance offered during onboarding. Participants received essential instructions, requirements, and resources to successfully get their reliability status.
