Angela’s coaching session flowed from and expanded on a Scotiabank recruitment event for the same clients on October 27th, about which she posted in LinkedIn (https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:6859204512171778048/ ). After a brief overview of the industry, career streams, the qualifications and skill sets required for them, and what makes for a strong candidate, Angela outlined her programs at the college.
For the next hour, she shared her expertise, experience and empathy in responding to individual questions. As a coach, she wanted to have a more personal engagement with the clients. For their part, clients prefaced their questions with their elevator pitches – on which they also received coaching. Angela found, “The participants in this event came prepared and dressed for work.”!
She stressed that, “Financial service is about building trust with clients and translating complex ideas into user-friendly language. These women applied outstanding listening skills and were able to customize their elevator pitches and follow-up questions to meet the needs of the audience and get the most out of the presenters.”
Unlike many similar ENW events, it did not run out of time. Angela was willing and able to stay until all questions were answered making it a uniquely authentic and personally rewarding afternoon. “Any employer looking to recruit relationship experts with a variety of transferable skills need only to meet participants from this group,” she added.
