The Professional Newcomer Women Behind ENW

September 03, 2020

On August 20th, The Empowering Visible Minority Newcomer Women program wrapped up another fantastic session with our Model 2 participants. Cohort 8 consisted of newcomer women within a variety of professional backgrounds such as Medicine, Law, Computer Science, and Education. The one thing which they all had in common was the determination to find a job that matches their professional abilities successfully.

The dynamic interventions provided through The Empowering Visible Minority Newcomer Women program aims to be a part of the solution for visible minority women to access and grow within the Canadian labour market. In addition to job search strategies, ENW also provides mentorship opportunities and encourages newcomer women to believe in themselves. The ENW team also provides reassurance that they are indeed qualified for the Canadian labour market. Despite the challenges they may face in a new country, our participants have taken the initiative to make a change. Their hard work, resilience, and dedication, together with ENW, have given participants a great advantage.

To provide the best service and resources, we love to hear from our participants and use this feedback to improve program aspects. ENW is making a positive impact in Ottawa. Take a look at these testimonies that may spark inspiration!

“Seven years ago, if I had this help, everything would’ve gone differently. Now that I’ve finished, I’m prepared to build my resume, cover letter, and Linked in. I feel empowered to use the tools I gained here confidently.” – Andrea, ENW Participant

“These past weeks in the program have been amazing. I found other women in the same situation as me. I don’t feel alone anymore. Before, I didn’t know what to do, now all my questions have been answered. I now know what I need to work on; I know the right way. This definitely met my expectations and way beyond that.” – Bruna, ENW Participants

“The happiness I experienced here was contagious. ENW doesn’t just go through development topics; you empower us, women. I feel more enthusiastic and confident, aside from the knowledge. I feel empowered to conquer the world!” – Diane, ENW Participant

“I’m empowered to find a job within my knowledge. I know what I have to work on to be successful and improve my skills. Now I have more haope to find a better job.” – Zoe, ENW Participant
