World Skills Action Plan in Response to COVID-19

Last week the nation received the announcement that establishments must close to practice social distancing due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Our teams at World Skills Employment Centre have been working towards finding a solution to continue providing services to our clients in a safe manner.  We are pleased to let you know that our programs are gradually moving online.  We will deliver online employment services using e-mail, telephone and other online technologies.

Some of our program have already started delivering services online: Empowering Visible Minority Newcomer Women to Succeed in the Canadian Labour Market is offering workshops and information sessions to qualified women, the Federal Internship for Newcomers (FIN) Program will deliver online info sessions to qualified candidates, the Career Access for Newcomers (CAN) program will deliver its first online workshop next week, and other programs and services will join!

Newcomers are also able to access one-on-one initial employability assessments and employment counselling. Our job board is still active and we are continuing to source talent for employers.

We are proud and very grateful to our staff for their hard work and commitment in responding quickly and efficiently to the needs of our newcomer clients during this difficult time. Please keep following World Skills Employment Centre to stay informed of upcoming changes!

Remember to keep safe and stay home as much as possible so that we can reduce the spread of COVID-19.
